Presbyterian Senior Care of Western New York Foundation, Inc. has several funds and endowments. Only the principle of a fund may be used; whereas the principle of an endowment remains intact in perpetuity; only its interest and/or investment income may be used.
The Foundation manages contributions made to individual facility funds for each of the five Presbyterian Senior Care affiliates: Harbour Health Multicare Center for Living, Hawthorn Health Multicare Center for Living, Ken-Ton Presbyterian Village, Lockport Presbyterian Home, and Presbyterian Village at North Church.
It also manages the General Fund, which serves the general needs of the residents, and the Pastoral Care Fund, which provides for the spiritual needs of the residents. Some churches within the Presbytery of Western New York include their contributions to the Pastoral Care Fund as mission funding. Undesignated gifts from churches are assigned to the Pastoral Care Fund; undesignated gifts from individuals are allocated for the
General Fund.
The Foundation manages six endowments and Board-designated funds that provide financial support to specific programs and services:
- The Allen Endowment supports purchases directly related to food service at the facilities;
- The Mary Venneman Endowment provides scholarships to employees wishing to continue their education through job-related studies;
- The Ziegle Endowment provides financial assistance to residents in need;
- The Permanent Endowment directs all unrestricted single gifts in amounts between $5,000 and $100,000 to support general needs within Presbyterian Senior Care;
- The Dorothy Payne Pastoral Care Fund provides support for the Chaplaincy Program; and
- The Robert J. Donough Endowment for Leadership Development provides funds for the professional development of management staff, thereby enabling them to more effectively fulfill the mission of Presbyterian Senior Care.
The Foundation’s activities, initiatives, and development plan are driven by the mission and needs of Presbyterian Senior Care of Western New York.
