Respite Care, a service that provides temporary relief for caregivers and families who are caring for elderly loved ones, is available at Lockport Presbyterian Home and is approved by the New York State Department of Health to provide the service.
Respite is defined as “an interval of rest or relief.” One of the important purposes of respite is to give family members time and temporary relief of the stress they may experience while providing extra care for a parent or other elderly loved one who is unable to live independently.
Caregivers who need a breather can arrange care for their loved one at Lockport Presbyterian Home so that they can take a vacation, undergo their own medical treatment, or just take a rest.
The individual must meet the same criteria for admission into Respite Care as do residents of the Home. The minimum respite stay is one week; the maximum stay is six weeks during any one-year period.
Respite Care residents receive all the same services as other residents of the Home and are provided a furnished room, studio, or suite, depending on availability. Cable TV is included. The stay must be prepaid.
Lockport Presbyterian Home is the only senior care residence in Lockport that is approved to provide respite care.
