The Presbyterian Senior Care Foundation exists to fulfill two purposes:
- To receive, manage, invest, and allocate charitable funds to support the mission of Presbyterian Senior Care and
- To seek and solicit charitable funds on behalf of Presbyterian Senior Care.
The history of fundraising at Presbyterian Senior Care of Western New York started with donors — donors who had been motivated by the mission of the former Presbyterian Homes of Western New York (the Homes) and often touched by the efforts of its dedicated staff. It was not until the mid-1980s that the Homes’ Board decided to create a new corporation called the Presbyterian Homes of Western New York Foundation. Its objective was to attract contributions from the community and manage the gifts appropriately to provide financial support for the Homes.
Initially the Foundation concentrated its efforts on receiving, managing, investing, and allocating charitable funds. By 1996, the Foundation Board decided to expand activities to include fundraising and development efforts such as an annual campaign and donor cultivation and recognition events.
To be successful, however, a strong relationship must continue to exist between the Foundation and the Homes. In 2005, following the Homes’ decision to change its name to Presbyterian Senior Care of Western New York, the Foundation likewise voted to change its name and is now doing business as Presbyterian Senior Care of Western New York Foundation, Inc. The Foundation’s development plan continues to be driven by the mission and the needs of Presbyterian Senior Care.
